When I launched GeekJabber, it was never my intention for this site to involve itself heavily in world politics. That’s not normally the focus of what we do.
With that said, it is hard not to be moved by the events unfolding in Ukraine. We may be unable to stop what is happening, but many of us may be asking what we can do to support the humanitarian efforts helping those in need.
There are several organisations that are helping provide a humanitarian response to those in need. If you are in Australia, you can donate to the Unicef Ukraine Emergency Appeal. For those both inside and outside of Australia, you can look at donating to the UN Ukraine Humanitarian Fund. For those that are more comfortable using a service such as PayPal rather than providing credit card details, you can also consider the Care Ukraine Crisis Fund.
